Today was all about climbing the mountain to see two caves. One is called the Hurricane Cave which historically offered protection from storms.

Day Eight - Caved
This tree has thorns that are filled with biting ants.
Note the barbed wire growing through the tree
Our guides, Denissia and Doral
This tour through the jungle to the caves cost $15 each.
Coming to the cave, note all of the iron rock.
This is treacherous- you'd be shredded if you slip and fall on it.
One of the most unflattering photos of me, but it shows how truly exhausted I was after the climb.
Worth the long, hard climb! Totally!
We survived. Barely.
But look at the Sea right in front of us!
I'll always remember this day.
To end the trip properly, we visited the pier of the property we fell in love with!
Now you might think today's story ended here; however, the afternoon included:
our host having to break up a dog fight and being pretty severely bitten
a long boat ride and a walk through parts of St. Helene,
meeting with a missionary and learning some island history;
our host being harassed by a drugged up islander.
A beautiful, full day. Exhausted but still smiling.

Day Seven - Wonderland
This entry is going to be mostly photos.
I haven't yet found the words to describe the property. It is the most beautiful 4 acres I have ever seen in my life.
An Oasis.
During the walk to the property. 0.67 miles from our host home.
Property's Pier (needs work)
Walk the land with us. Four acres of Wonderland.
93 Steps
This house is 500 sq. ft. Plenty for two people.
This is a piranha septic system.
House is powered by solar. These are the back-up batteries.

Day Six - St. Helene
Moving Again
Today starts the part of the trip we have been dreaming about.
We don't know what we will find there, but we are excited to find out!
BJ's Backyard Bar & Grill
We met our St. Helene hosts at BJ's at 1:00 and talked to them and another couple for close to two hours. Then the long-awaited boat ride to the island.
Our host, Robert
Scenes during the ride from Oakridge to Helene.
Wine Down Resort
home for the next four days
Good Night from Wine Down Beach
St. Helen, Roatán, Honduras
BE SURE TO CHECK BACK TOMORROW FOR PHOTOS OF THE PROPERTY THAT JUST MIGHT BE OUR DREAM HOME!
